Today has been such a special day for me. Easons Ireland did the honours to reveal the cover and blurb to my seventh novel, A Thousand Roads Home. It will hit Irish bookshelves in October 2018 in Trade paperback (large format), eBook worldwide, then go on sale in UK Spring 2019, in mass paperback (small format).
So here’s a little story for you all. Before I came home to Wexford, I lived in Dublin for 20 years. And most Saturday mornings, I’d have brunch, then head to Easons to choose my next read. I could lose hours gazing at the wonderful covers, marvelling at the stories the books held.
And as I’ve always been a dreamer, there, I would dream big. One day I too will write a book too. One day these books will sit on the bookshelves here, side by side with authors I admire and love.
I still pinch myself that those dreams were realised when my first book hit their bookshelves in 2013. Since then, I’ve had many big milestone moments. And today is another one for me. Because this big dreamer would never have believed that one-day Easons would reveal the cover to my next novel. Isn’t that kind of wonderful?
If you would like to pre-order a copy in trade paperback, Eason’s are taking orders now!
And here is the blurb, to give you an insight into Ruth, DJ’s and Tom’s story.
Warm, powerful and unforgettable, Irish Times best-selling author Carmel Harrington’s new novel is about second chances, friendship and unlikely heroes.
‘Where is home?’ DJ asked.
‘Wherever the people you love are.’ Ruth replied.
Single mother, Ruth, and her son, DJ, have never truly fitted in, but that didn’t matter, so long as they were together. When their home comes under threat, their quiet life will change forever.
DJ meets Tom, a man who ten years ago walked out of his house and never looked back. Ruth, DJ and Tom have all felt like outsiders. Burdened with grief and insecurities, they are not living their best lives. But together, these three ordinary people will do an extraordinary thing…
