Guest Blogger Wednesdays – Author Lorraine Wilson in the hot seat!

Good morning everyone

Apologies again for missing last weeks guest blogger, I will reschedule that one shortly!  But for now I’m back on track again for our regular guest blogger slot.

I thought it would be fun to feature some of my fellow HarperImpulse authors over the next few weeks.  Since I signed with Harper, I have to tell you the welcome I’ve received from the other authors has been incredible.  There is such a strong support network between us all it’s really quite wonderful.  And the dubious honour of being the first HI author to come visit me here goes to the very talented Lorraine Wilson.

Hi Lorraine, Welcome to happymrsh’s blog!  Can you tell us a little bit about yourself please?

I write flirty, feel good fiction for Harper Impulse. I live in Wiltshire, England with my husband and three mad terriers!

What do you write?

I write contemporary fiction. ‘Confessions of a Chalet Girl’ is the first of a series of six novellas set in Verbier. I spend a lot of time in Switzerland and find the world of the seasonaires provides plenty of inspiration. There are also a few longer length stories in the pipeline.

Lorraine as you know I read Confessions of a Chalet girl when I heard I was joining the HI team and I loved it.  I’ve always fancied the idea of skiing, but never got around to it, but having read this book, it’s now a must do experience on my list of things to do!

Have a look at the beautiful cover for Confessions of a Chalet Girl.

I for one cannot wait to read more from you and judging by the rankings you have achieved on Amazon to date, all of your fans agree! So please tell us what are you working on right now?

I’m working on book three of the Chalet Girl series, working title is ‘Revenge of a Chalet Girl’ and it’s great fun to write! If anyone’s got any stories about how they or their girlfriends got revenge on an ex, I’d be interested to hear!

I would hazard a guess that most of us have a few ‘ex’ stories for sure Lorraine!  Just to give everyone a taster, can you share a sample of your writing?

Excerpt from ‘Confessions of a Chalet Girl’

“Get it off!”

Shouts and wolf whistles filled the packed bar. Embarrassment prickled at Holly Buchanan’s skin. Chalet girl initiation? Huh, why not just throw her to the lions and have done with it?

Swallowing hard, she scanned the crowd. Could she pull this off? They looked inebriated enough to have their designer wool scarves pulled over their eyes.

Bras of all colours and sizes dangled from the wooden beams of the bar’s ceiling, resembling pastel-coloured Christmas decorations. ‘The Wonderbar’, the venue for her first night out in Verbier was, despite appearances, not a seedy strip joint but a favourite haunt of savvy seasonnaires. Not to mention the occasional billionaire.

She heard it grew pretty steamy in the small hours. Not that she was planning on sticking around to see. No way was she dancing on a table.

A throbbing tension headache pulsated against her temples.

What the frick am I doing here?

Enduring ritual humiliation in return for the ten free shots her team would get if she whipped off her bra was hardly her idea of a good night out.

“Off, off, off.”

Her heart performed a neat back flip down to the soles of her boots.

Come on Holly, work it! You can do it.

“Off, off, off.”

She took a deep breath and stepped forward. It wasn’t as if she even wanted the blasted drinks but failure was not an option.

Bet that has made a few of you want more!  So Lorraine, I love to hear what other authors are reading themselves.  What are you reading right now? And is it a paper book or eBook?

Neither! I listen to audio books and I’m listening to an old favourite at the moment called ‘Bad Heir Day’ by Wendy Holden and ‘The Unidentified Redhead’ by Alice Clayton. I’ve got around 60 books currently on my iPhone and tend to listen to books I’ve already read when I’m falling asleep at night – one I could listen to countless times is ‘Mammy Walsh’s A-Z of the Walsh Family’ by Marian Keyes, I never fail to find it funny.

Marian Keyes is one our most popular Irish authors and I agree totally, very funny! I went through a phase of listening to audio tapes a few years ago. I must revisit that particular phase!  It’s a lovely way to ‘read’.    Quick fire round time, I always love reading these answers!  Pick one of each of the below!
