Guest Blogger Wednesday – Author Sue Fortin in the hotseat!

Good morning everyone. It’s that time of the week again, with another great author popping into Mrs H’s house for a chat.  It’s quite nice to take a minute to sit down on the H virtual couch, cos’ life is a bit hectic right now.  The weeks are just whizzing by at the speed of light! I’m out gallivanting at book signings and guest talks a lot at the mo promoting the paperback release of Beyond Grace’s Rainbow.  I am having the time of my life! Honestly, if I’d known how much fun this writing malarkey could be, I’d have started years ago 😉

But right now, I’m at home catching up on some admin, writing (and coffee drinking!) and delighted to introduce my next guest blogger, the lovely Sue Fortin!

So sit down with a cuppa and lets get to know a little be more about Sue and her books.  Right Sue, spill!

I love cake. Is there anything else worth saying?

Okay, the other bits … I’m a mum to four children, although one has now left home – allegedly. We are still working on a mutually agreeable definition for the term ‘left home’.  I live in West Sussex right by the sea. I work part time at a higher education college and when not dealing with any of the above, I try and do a bit of writing.

Cake, nuff’ said!  I’m not sure children ever ‘leave home’ lol.  So when you do get time to write, what genre and when did you start?

Primarily I write romance but I like to dabble in the sub-genres. United States of Love is a contemporary romance. Book 2, Closing In, is a romantic suspense as will be Book 3 but I also have lined up a time-slip and a historical.  My books tend to involve romance and crime, so I’ve invented a new genre of Cri-mance. Clever, eh?

I love the idea of Cri-mance.  My second book is a Cri-mance I think! Right, new genre offically started now!

I’ve almost finished United States of Love and I am enjoying it so much.  I love the fact that the heroine is just a normal woman, I think one that most will identify with.

Here’s a look at the gorgeous cover of Sue’s book.

Can you share something with us about one of your books that you’ve not shared with anyone else before?

Tex, my hero in United States of Love, was French for a while but the book had a big re-write and the French thing just wasn’t working. The book did have a different title too which I’m saving for a new novel where I will bring Tex’s other French self to life.

I love that Tex is American, I can’t imagine him as French!  What are you working on right now?

Right now, I’ve just finished my romantic suspense novel called ‘Closing In’. It’s about a woman who goes to drastic measures to start a new life but her past is hot on her heels.

That sounds really great Sue. Tell me about your blog and what we can expect if we pop by.

I blog mainly over at The Romaniacs – we are a group of romance writers who love supporting other writers. There’s a mix of guests posts, individual posts and group posts – we have a great friendship and I think the fun and laughter comes through in our blogs.

I met some of the Romaniacs at the Festival of Romance and what a great group of ladies.  So we’ve seen the cover, could you share a snipped from United States of Love?

United States Of Love

So he thought he was clever did he? A proper smart-arse. Nico Garcia or Tex, or whatever his blasted name was. Anna glared at the American’s back as he chatted to the Chamber of Commerce guy. Despite her bad temper with Tex, she couldn’t fail to acknowledge the broadness of his shoulders underneath the crisp, dark suit. He looked even more attractive tonight, all spruced up, shirt and tie. He really did scrub up well. Stop! She must stop thinking like this about him.

‘Hello, Anna.’ It was Andy Bartholomew, the curator of the museum at Arundel Castle.

Great, just what she needed. Handy Andy, as he was unaffectionately known amongst the female tour guides, and it was certainly nothing to do with his DIY skills.

‘Hello, Andy,’ she replied politely as she shifted around him, looking for an escape route, someone else she could suddenly develop the urgent need to speak with.

Can you give me 3 words to describe your best self and 3 words to describe your worst self.

My best self :  I can’t put ‘modest’ down for this answer, there’s too much irony! So I’ll opt for Patient. Light hearted, Friendly

My worst self: Thankfully, you only want three words … stubborn, disorganised, grumpy when tired (okay that wasn’t strictly three words but felt I needed to qualify the grumpy bit)

Smiling at that answer.  Grumpy, never!  What are you reading right now? And is it a paper book or ebook?

Right now, I’m reading ‘Sister’ by Rosamund Lupton – paperback form, which is unusual for me these days.

I know what you mean, I seem to read only on my iPad these days too!  Quick fire round, pick one of each of the below!
