Carmel Harrington is taking on the US! News on the BookTour here!

Hello everyone

It’s been a while since I posted, I know!  Sorry about that, but I’ve been locked in my writing cave doing revisions on Book2.  Everything seemed to conspire against me in February to get them finished, I wasn’t sure I’d ever emerge victorious! Both Nate and Amelia were sick for a week, so Mama writer became Mama nurse.  Then the ‘big storm’ came and we spent three days without any leccy and a week without WiFi, so Mama writer became Mama cooking by candlelight on an open fire! (oh ok, maybe a takeaway or two was had!)

But despite life’s little hiccups, after many late nights, I finally got to write ‘The End’ on my book baby today and I emailed it off to my editor in Harper Collins before I could change my mind and decide to re-tweak it again, just to be sure, to be sure!

Now the fun starts, because I have to wait for my editors verdict on the changes made plus the fun of edits will begin! But I’m sitting here grinning because I know how lucky I am to have a publisher to send my book to at all. When I think back to only a year ago, I’d have been throwing a party even considering having a contract with one of the big 5 publishers.

Afterall, I could be this poor dude…..

Book2 does actually have a new name and I’ll be sharing that with you all real soon!  As for the cover, well I can hardly wait to see what my talented publishers come up with.

I can tell you thought that the publish date is 19th June, so just under four months to go before it hits the bookshelves!

I have a busy few weeks coming up, as I’m in London this week for meetings with Harper Collins, then next week I have some radio interviews and in between all of that, I need to get ready for the big US Book Tour!

US Book Tour

Full details of the events I will be at are here and if you are based in either Chicago or New York area and you can come along to any of them, I’ll be so happy to see you!

I’m so excited about this trip, it feels a bit surreal, but it is happening.  My agent Tracy Brennan, is just incredible.  She has tirelessly worked so hard to organise it all for me, I cannot wait to see her, because we have yet to actually celebrate in person all of the incredible things that have happened bookwise these past few months.  I suspect several glasses will be clinked!

Throughout the tour, I’ll be doing several book readings, talks and signings of Beyond Grace’s Rainbow, which incidentally is being published in US in paperback 18th March.

Please let me know if you are going to come along to any of them and I’ll make sure and look out for you!

Aside from work, I will be enjoying the St Patricks Day Parade in Chicago on the 16th March, then in New York on the 17th March and I am so honoured to be marching in same, with the Wexford Association of New York.

I also get to spend time with my friend LynnMarie Hulsman, fellow Harper Collins author.  I can’t wait to see her again and meet her lovely family.

It looks very likely, if schedules align, that I’ll be doing a TV interview too, so as you can imagine, wardrobe questions are of paramount importance at the moment, plus a mahoosive effort at losing a few pounds!

Mr H and I had an amazingly generous offer, which we gratefully accepted, from my best friend Annie and my SIL Evelyn, who offered to babysit the children between them during the US tour so that Rog can come with me.

We felt it was just too long for both of us to be away from the smallies for the full trip, so I’ll do Chicago solo, but Rog will fly to join me in New York. So I get to be in US and have my man by my side. Can’t get any better than that!

That’s pretty much my update, I hope you all had a lovely weekend,

Chat soon,

Carmel
